Passionfoods - Sustainable Food Systems Prize
A prize of $1000 is awarded to the student for a research essay written as a part of an assignment on the topic of sustainable food systems. The winner will have contributed most to the understanding of the sustainable food production supply and demand chain.
All students currently enrolled in the Graduate Environmental Program are eligible to enter.
The winning essay will be decided each year by a panel of lecturers and the Director of the OEP in conjunction with a representative of Passionfoods.
If you would like to be considered for the prize, please inform the OEP or the subject coordinator at the time of submission of your essay.
This prize is very kindly donated by the Passionfoods Eco-Living Store in south Melbourne.
Clean Air Society of Australia and New Zealand – Air and Environment Award
A prize of $500 plus one year’s membership to the CASANZ Society is available to the student with the highest mark in an individual research essay in the area of air quality or related issues such as green house gas emissions or indoor air quality.
Students must be enroled in the Graduate Environmental Program and taking one of the following subjects, in which a substantial part of the assessment is an essay:
950-601 Sustainability, Policy and Management
505-932 Epidemiology and Health Impacts
950-603/ 600-604 Environmental Risk Assessment
950-611/950 612 Environmental Research Projects

The Interdisciplinary Award and Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Award for Sustainability and Environmental Writing
The Office for Environmental Programs, with the support of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research) Office, has established two awards for sustainability and Environmental writing.
The first award (valued at $1000) is available to Faculty members at the University of Melbourne for research in the preceding three years that is considered to have made the most significant contribution to sustainability and environmental writing.
The second award (also valued at $1000) is available for research completed as part of a postgraduate qualification that is considered to have made the most significant contribution to sustainability and environmental writing. The nominee should be within 3 years of graduating from the degree in which the research was completed.
